Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Solution Architect to drive the design and delivery of a Live TV and OTT streaming platform. This role demands a strong blend of software development expertise, cloud architecture, DevOps engineering, and media streaming knowledge. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, capable of designing robust systems while actively contributing to software design decisions, code quality, and cloud infrastructure strategy. You will work closely with product, engineering, and operations teams to build scalable, secure, and high-performance streaming solutions.

Responsibilities

• Architect end-to-end cloud-native solutions for the Live TV and VOD streaming platform, covering backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and client integrations.

• Design and evolve microservices-based architectures using modern software development practices and frameworks.

• Provide technical leadership in core software components, including service design, API contracts, and integration patterns.

• Define and implement cloud architecture across AWS, Tencent, GCP, and Alibaba, including networking, CDNs, compute, storage, and managed services.

• Lead DevOps and CI/CD strategy, including build pipelines, automated testing, deployments, and environment management.

• Architect media workflows such as content ingestion, transcoding, packaging, DRM, CDN delivery, and playback optimization with a focus on adaptive bitrate streaming for varying network conditions (2G to 4G/5G).

• Design and implement secure, scalable integrations with telecom operator systems for Direct Carrier Billing (DCB), subscriber identity/SSO, and data package/zero-rating promotions.

• Collaborate with development teams to ensure clean, maintainable, and scalable codebases aligned with architectural standards.

• Ensure systems meet non-functional requirements including performance, scalability, security, and reliability with defined SLOs/SLAs for critical user journeys (e.g., video start time).

• Architect cost-optimized cloud solutions with auto-scaling, reserved instances, and data transfer cost management strategies.

• Establish observability standards including logging, monitoring, tracing, and alerting for a high-traffic, multi-tenant OTT platform.

• Support architectural reviews, proof-of-concepts, and technology evaluations with a focus on emerging video tech (e.g., AV1 codec, low-latency streaming) and market-specific solutions.

• Mentor senior engineers and tech leads, fostering a culture of architectural excellence and innovation.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in software development and solution architecture roles with at least 3+ years specifically in high-scale consumer applications (OTT, video streaming, gaming, or e-commercze).

• Strong proficiency in backend development (Java, Kotlin, Node.js, Python, or similar).

• Proven experience designing and building cloud-native applications on AWS (preferred), Azure, or GCP.

• Hands-on expertise with microservices, REST/GraphQL APIs, and event-driven architectures.

• Deep understanding of Live TV and OTT streaming technologies, including adaptive bitrate streaming (HLS/DASH), DRM (Widevine, FairPlay, PlayReady), CDN optimization, and video encoding/transcoding pipelines.

• Strong background in DevOps engineering, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation).

• Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Solid knowledge of distributed systems, high availability, and fault tolerance.

• Proven experience in designing and implementing telecom integrations (e.g., carrier billing, identity federation, promotional data systems) – highly desirable.

• Experience with data platforms and real-time analytics for user behavior tracking, personalization, and recommendation systems.

• Understanding of the Pakistani digital landscape, user behavior patterns, and network infrastructure challenges – a strong plus.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to business stakeholders and mentor technical teams.

• Strategic mindset with the ability to balance immediate business needs with long-term platform scalability and innovation.
