Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to join our growing technology team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the performance, integrity, security, and high availability of our SQL Server environments across both Windows and Linux platforms.
This role demands strong expertise in database replication, performance tuning, monitoring, version upgrades, and synchronization across distributed systems. You will be a key player in ensuring our database infrastructure is resilient, secure, and optimized for performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, maintain, and optimize SQL Server 2012 and above, including SQL Server on Linux.
- Design, configure, and troubleshoot SQL Server Replication (Transactional, Merge, Peer-to-Peer).
- Implement and manage comprehensive backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- Monitor database performance and health using native and third-party tools.
- Identify and resolve problematic queries using execution plans, wait stats, and DMVs.
- Ensure data consistency and synchronization across multiple servers and geographic locations.
- Lead and execute database version upgrades with minimal downtime.
- Deploy and maintain SQL Server on Linux, including migration and optimization.
- Implement and enforce database security, encryption, and compliance standards.
- Create documentation and provide knowledge sharing across teams.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for critical database operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA in production environments.
- In-depth knowledge of SQL Server Replication and related troubleshooting techniques.
- Strong understanding of SQL Server internals, indexing, and transaction isolation levels.
- Experience with SQL Server on Linux.
- Proficiency in identifying and resolving query performance issues.
- Expertise in backup/restore techniques using both native tools and third-party software.
- Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., SQL Server Agent, Extended Events, PerfMon).
- Scripting knowledge in PowerShell and T-SQL for automation and maintenance.
- Experience in managing database version upgrades across development and production environments.
- Solid understanding of database security best practices.
