Head Of Risk Management

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Risk Management to lead the enterprise-wide risk function at YAP Pakistan. In this critical leadership role, you will design, implement, and oversee a robust risk management framework that supports YAP’s rapid growth in digital payments, bill payments, mobile top-ups, and other fintech services while ensuring full regulatory compliance with State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) guidelines. You will play a key role in identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring all material risks (credit, operational, market, liquidity, fraud, technology/cyber, compliance, and strategic risks) in a fast-paced fintech environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework aligned with SBP regulations, international best practices, and YAP’s business strategy.
• Establish and monitor the company’s Risk Appetite Statement, risk limits, and key risk indicators(KRIs).
• Lead risk identification, assessment, and mitigation across all business lines, with special focus on digital payment risks, fraud risk, transaction monitoring, cyber & technology risks, and operational resilience.
• Oversee fraud risk management strategy in coordination with the Risk & Fraud team (if separate).
• Ensure robust Technology Risk Management practices in line with SBP’s Technology Risk Management Framework for Payment Institutions.
• Conduct regular risk assessments, stress testing, scenario analysis, and risk reporting to the Executive Committee and Board.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators (SBP, SECP, etc.) and represent YAP in risk- related matters.
• Collaborate closely with Compliance, Information Security, Internal Audit, Product, Technology, and Business teams to embed risk culture across the organization.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Risk Management team.
• Drive risk awareness training and promote a strong risk culture throughout YAP.
• Monitor emerging risks (regulatory changes, cyber threats, fintech-specific risks) and provide proactive recommendations to senior leadership.
  
  

Requirements & Qualifications

• 6-8 years of overall experience in Risk Management, with at least 2-3 years in a senior/leadership role.
• Strong experience in fintech, digital payments, electronic money institutions (EMI), or banking.
• Proven track record of building or scaling a risk function in a regulated financial services environment.
• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
• Professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager), CRM, PRM, or CFA will be a strong plus.
• Knowledge of SBP regulations, Basel principles, IFRS 9, and ISO standards is highly desirable.
• Deep understanding of fintech-specific risks (fraud, cyber, operational, AML/CFT, customer onboarding/KYC risks).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities (ability to explain complex risks to non-technical audiences).
• Leadership experience with proven ability to build and develop teams.
• Proficiency in risk management tools, data analytics, and reporting dashboards.
