Scope and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be an integral member of the fund accounting team providing support to Oaktree’s Senior Loan strategy. The candidate will provide strategic oversight and guidance to ensure the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of accounting, reporting, and auditing across a diverse portfolio of investment funds, including open-end funds, closed-end funds, collateralized loan obligation portfolios (CLOs), and risk retention vehicles. While the role requires supervision and review of deliverables, it will prioritize facilitating collaboration with internal teams and external service providers including third-party administrators, custodians, directors, legal, and tax professionals.
Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following activities:
Portfolio Oversight and Reconciliation:
- Review and approve monthly and quarterly close processes, including pricing, management fee calculations, expense accruals, and portfolio reconciliation with custodial and counterparties.
- Monitor daily cash and position reconciliations and coordinate issue resolution with custodians, administrators, and counterparties.
- Ensure books and records accurately reflect purchase/sale transactions, trade par, and cash reconciliations for CLOs.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements in compliance with U.S. and U.K. GAAP, IFRS, and investment company accounting rules.
- Coordinate regulatory filings, including AIFMD Annex IV, Form PF, ADV reporting, CRS, and tax filings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Review fund and client-specific performance metrics, including XIRR and TWR analysis.
Audit and Efficiency Execution:
- Supervise annual financial statement audits and provide guidance to external auditors.
- Support fund-related automation and efficiency initiatives, ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley standards.
Client Fund Activity Management:
- Review income and expense allocations and progress of distribution waterfalls. Collaborate on cash forecasting, ensuring adherence to loan-to-value ratios and borrowing limits.
- Oversee preparation and review of borrowing notices and funding memos for corporate-related activity.
- Ensure smooth execution of fund openings, closings, client drawdowns, and distributions with stakeholders.
Cash and Expense Analysis:
- Monitor expense analysis and corporate expense reimbursement tracking.
- Provide oversight to waterfall invoice preparation and wire payment execution.
- Review corporate actions related to delayed compensation, cost of carry, amendment fees, and PIK interest.
Support and Collaboration:
- Oversee the work of third-party administrators and custodians, ensuring accuracy and quality control.
- Respond to ad-hoc queries from client services and internal teams while facilitating setups for new funds and CLOs across accounting, marketing, performance, and trading systems.
Experience Required
- Minimum 12+ years of relevant accounting or audit experience within Big Four public accounting or a mix of public accounting and investment management industry roles.
- Strong knowledge of reconciliation and account analysis, with proven ability to oversee and review processes rather than direct execution.
- Excellent understanding of accounting principles and relevant investment company accounting rules.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; familiarity with Geneva and/or Geneva World Investor accounting systems is a plus.
- Experience with PowerBI, Alteryx, or other data analytical tools is desirable.
- Working knowledge of CLOs and Risk Retention Vehicles is advantageous, with the following areas preferred:
- CLO lifecycle, including all aspects of the Warehouse Phase, Ramping of Portfolio, Pricing, Close, Drawdowns, Repayments, Day One S110 Test, 1st Loss Equity Tranche, Waterfall Schedule, Priority of Payments, Resets and Refinancing, Management and Incentive Fees, Par and Cash, Aggregate Principal/Collateral Balance Calculations

Education
- Bachelor’s degree is required, preferred in Accounting or Finance
- CPA, Chartered Accountant or equivalent qualification is a plus
