About The Role
As a Payroll Intern within the Operations Department, you'll play a hands-on role in making sure every restaurant employee onboarded to AIO gets paid accurately and on time. You'll work directly within AIO's payroll platform (Check HQ) to run weekly and biweekly payroll cycles across multiple restaurant accounts, keeping tax filings, deadlines, and compliance steps on track. This role is a great fit for someone detail-oriented, comfortable working
with numbers and deadlines, and looking to build real, hands-on experience in payroll operations.
(This is a paid opportunity).
What will be your responsibilities?
Our mission is to revolutionize the US restaurant industry by providing a comprehensive and fully integrated solution that empowers restaurant owners to efficiently manage all aspects of their business. Our platform combines our patented AI technology with unparalleled customer support to help owners increase revenue, reduce costs, and improve their overall profit margins.
We believe that restaurants should be able to focus on delivering exceptional dining experiences to their customers, without the added stress of managing complex and disparate systems. That's why we offer an All-In-One super app platform for all their needs, from front-of-the-house operations like ordering, payment, marketing, and rewards, to back-of-the-house management like inventory, staff, and financials.
We are laser focused on becoming a significant player in the $55 billion restaurant tech SaaS market. You will be a part of a world class, up-and-coming Silicon Valley funded startup.

What will be your responsibilities?
- Run Payroll Cycles: Process weekly and biweekly payroll runs for restaurant employees through AIO's Check HQ platform, ensuring accuracy from start to finish.
- Manage Multiple Accounts: Handle payroll processing across multiple restaurant accounts simultaneously, keeping each account's cycle, deadlines, and employee records organized and error-free.
- Ensure Tax Compliance: Confirm that all federal, state, and local payroll taxes are calculated, withheld, and filed correctly for every payroll run. Meet Payroll Deadlines: Track and complete every step of the payroll cycle — data entry, approvals, tax filings, and disbursements — within the required timelines so employees are paid without delay.
- Data Accuracy & Recordkeeping: Verify employee hours, wage rates, deductions, and tips are correctly reflected in each payroll run before processing. Troubleshoot Payroll Issues: Identify and resolve discrepancies (missed hours, incorrect rates, tax errors, etc.) before and after payroll is run, escalating complex issues as needed.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with the Onboarding and Support teams to ensure new employees and restaurant accounts are correctly set up in the payroll system ahead of their first pay cycle.
- Documentation: Maintain clear, organ organized records of payroll runs, approvals, and any corrections made, for audit and compliance purposes.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and comfort working with numbers, spreadsheets, and deadlines.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks/accounts at once without losing accuracy.
- Basic understanding of payroll concepts (gross pay, deductions, tax withholding) is a plus — training will be provided.
- Comfortable learning new software platforms quickly (experience with Check HQ, Gusto, ADP, or similar payroll tools is a plus, but not required).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow up on outstanding items proactively.
- Reliable and able to meet strict, recurring weekly/biweekly deadlines
