Job Description
The General Manager – Accounting & Tax will lead the hospital's financial accounting, taxation, statutory compliance, and financial control functions. The role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with applicable laws and accounting standards, effective tax management, and a strong internal control environment.
The incumbent will play a key role in strengthening financial governance, improving reporting efficiency, supporting strategic decision-making, and driving process improvements across the finance function. The position requires a qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) with strong industry exposure, leadership capability, and hands-on experience in managing complex accounting and taxation matters within a dynamic business environment, preferably healthcare.

Job Description
The General Manager – Accounting & Tax will lead the hospital's financial accounting, taxation, statutory compliance, and financial control functions. The role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with applicable laws and accounting standards, effective tax management, and a strong internal control environment.
The incumbent will play a key role in strengthening financial governance, improving reporting efficiency, supporting strategic decision-making, and driving process improvements across the finance function. The position requires a qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) with strong industry exposure, leadership capability, and hands-on experience in managing complex accounting and taxation matters within a dynamic business environment, preferably healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Lead and oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
- Ensure integrity and completeness of financial records, general ledger management, and chart of accounts maintenance.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
- Ensure timely month-end and year-end closing processes with proper reconciliations and review mechanisms.
- Monitor balance sheet schedules, ledger reconciliations, accruals, and provisioning processes.
- Maintain strong financial controls to ensure accuracy, transparency, and reliability of financial reporting.
- Support implementation and optimization of ERP and finance automation initiatives.
- Manage all direct and indirect taxation matters including income tax, sales tax, withholding tax, payroll taxes, and other statutory obligations.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of all statutory returns, tax filings, and regulatory reports.
- Monitor compliance with applicable tax laws, SECP regulations, and other regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with tax consultants, external auditors, regulatory authorities, and government agencies.
- Handle tax assessments, audits, notices, appeals and correspondence with tax authorities.
- Support tax planning initiatives and identify opportunities for tax optimization and process efficiency while ensuring full regulatory compliance.
- Lead and oversee the complete Accounts Payable (AP) function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, payments, and reconciliations.
- Monitor payment cycles, vendor aging, and outstanding liabilities to ensure efficient working capital management and strong vendor relationships.
- Ensure compliance with approval matrices, procurement policies, contractual terms, and payment authorization procedures.
- Coordinate with procurement, supply chain, pharmacy, and user departments to resolve invoice discrepancies and payment-related issues.
- Review and strengthen AP controls to prevent duplicate payments, unauthorized transactions, and process inefficiencies.
- Ensure timely processing of consultant, supplier, contractor, and service provider payments.
- Monitor advances, deposits, accruals, and payable reconciliations on a periodic basis.
- Drive process automation and ERP optimization initiatives related to AP and financial operations.
- Support the CFO in improving transaction processing efficiency, financial discipline, and operational controls across the organization.
- Strengthen and continuously improve internal financial controls, policies, and compliance procedures.
- Ensure adherence to organizational financial policies, SOPs, and delegated authority frameworks.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit observations and management letter points.
- Support implementation of risk management and compliance initiatives within the finance function.
- Assist in developing a culture of accountability, ethical practices, and financial discipline.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor accounting team members.
- Allocate responsibilities and ensure effective performance management within the department.
- Promote a culture of professionalism, continuous learning, collaboration, and process improvement.
- Identify training and development needs of finance staff to strengthen technical and functional capabilities.
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS), taxation laws, and financial compliance.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Prior experience working in Tax Department. Knowledge of Federal and Provincial revenue authorities, handling notices and appeals. Coordination with external tax advisors where necessary.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Experience working in hospitals or healthcare institutions.
- Familiarity with healthcare financial operations and regulatory requirements.
- Leadership capability with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
Qualification & Experience
- Must be a Chartered Accountant and an Associate Member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ACA).
- 3–5 years of post-qualification industry experience.
- Prior experience in the healthcare sector will be preferred.
- Experience in financial reporting, taxation, and audit coordination is essential. ______________________________________________________________________
