About The Job

Join us at Better Cotton as Operations Officer Pakistan and play a pivotal role in driving Better Cotton’s 2030 Strategy, ensuring measurable progress in sustainable farming practices for the world’s largest cotton sustainability initiative – we support more sustainable farming practices and farm livelihoods for nearly 3 million farmers in the Better Cotton network in 23 countries around the world.

The Senior Assurance Officer ensures that assurance processes are up to date, communicated and monitored globally. The Senior Assurance Officer coordinates the certification workstream activities and conducts Better Cotton monitoring for supply chain actors as per the Chain of Custody Standard to uphold Better Cotton’s overall credibility as a sustainability initiative.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a motivated Senior Officer Assurance - Supply Chain to join our Assurance Team. In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Conduct monitoring activities like transaction monitoring remotely and in-person if needed following established process for supply chain actors using the BCI Platform.
  • Follow up on monitoring/audit outcomes including CAP closure, drafting of suspension letter based on outcome and keeping relevant teams informed on consequences and outcome as required.
  • Share outcomes and learning from monitoring with wider teams in country like D&E team to flag areas of concern for enhancing capacity building efforts on a regular basis.
  • Take ownership of agreed objectives, ensuring alignment with team priorities and performance expectations.
  • Conduct ginner level monitoring including in-person audits, volume integrity checks and support incident management from first mile traceability activities.
  • Act as a bridge between producer and supply chain assurance to improve collaboration and alignment.
  • Conduct report reviews of a sample of CoC certification audit reports and share feedback on an ongoing basis.
  • Conduct shadow audits for auditors conducting CoC audits and share report outcome with the CB.
  • Contribute to the wider work of the BCI Pakistan team, with a specific focus on the wider team
  • Participate in continued professional development  
  • Provide input into and support other activities across the assurance team as required 
  • Participate in various meetings to stay informed on development in other sub-functions, teams and use the knowledge to ensure process efficiency and flag concerns which can potentially impact the team.

Essential

Experience

  • At least 5-7 years’ working experience with at least 2 years in a relevant field.
  • Fluent in English and Urdu required.

Desirable

  • Academic background in rural/ agricultural development and sustainability, textile sector or management sciences.
  • Auditing experience or relevant auditor trainings.
  • Experience of standard systems and assurance, or certification
  • Ability to multi-task, adapt to changing environments, work independently and is self-motivated.
  • Other languages regional dialects is desirable.

Working arrangements

The position is full-time (40 hours per week) and will be based in Lahore. Better Cotton Initiative offers flexible working, with core hours being 10 am – 4 pm. Frequent Travel to cotton growing regions will be required. Some international travel may be required.
