Shift Engineer

Purpose

The position coordinates and resolves all queries and issues leading towards sustainability of uninterrupted 11KV Network. These responsibilities are carried out WITH the objective to maintain uninterrupted power supply, increase site operational effectiveness, reduce mean time between failure & downtime and compliance with HSEQ standards WITHIN the limits of organizational policies and SOPs, departmental objectives, environmental policies, HSEQ standards, business code of conduct and directions/guidelines from supervisor.

Education

BE- Electrical

Knowledge

Understanding of Electrical network systems primarily related to SSM, UGM, OPN

Network equipment maintenance

Sound knowledge of Electrical Load Management & 11KV Single Line Diagrams

Planning and operations 11Kv Network activities

Understanding of Health and safety (HSE) guidelines/ SOPs

Basic knowledge of MS Office

1 year of OJT experience

Area Of Responsibilities

LOAD MANAGEMENT 80%

• Controls and monitors 11KV network through Area Operation Centers (AOCs). Normalizes tripping by isolating the faulty portion of the feeder along with routing of the fault to concerned department for rectification
• Ensures maintaining load balancing on the network
• Remains in constant coordination with AM CM for arranging necessary shutdown and back-feeding in affected areas
• Coordinates with Load Dispatch Centre (LDC) and Switch Board Officers (SBOs) at grids and AM CM for necessary acquisition of information regarding outages and performing of requisite operations
• Prepares C-Forms (on SAP) in line with PTW for all planned shutdowns and ensures due arrangement in field as per scheduled time and normalizing after receipt of clearance from the working department
• Undertakes arranging of corrective maintenance shutdowns as per PTW through AOC
• Makes sure that reporting mechanism is in place for due information to all stakeholders
• Updates 11 KV network /Log Book on hard copy in case of any change due to induction of new PMT, substation, feeder or any revision in isolation
• Marks isolations on hard copy of newly laid network with previous copy down
• Forwards UGM and SSM related faults timely
• Communicates necessary live operational instructions on the network to AE AOC/AM CM
• Acquires feeder priority /arrangement of standbys on important occasions
  
  

RECORD KEEPING & ANALYSIS 20%

• Maintains log, shutdown, message books, voice recording and supervising maintenance of back-feeding log
• Undertakes advices for enhancement and improvement of the HT network under system improvement proposals
• Updates shutdowns on SAP timely and also every outage in NSIS
